In Peninsula Women’s Chorus’ third collaboration with Golden Gate Men’s Chorus, one hundred voices will join in the West Coast premiere of “The Son of Man” by Syrian-American composer Kareem Roustom. The poetry of Khalil Gibran, best known for his work, The Prophet, comes alive in a dramatic oratorio by Syrian-born composer, Kareem Roustom. Join us for the West Coast premiere of Son of Man, presented by the Golden Gate Men’s Chorus in collaboration with the Peninsula Women’s Chorus. Immerse yourself in the mystical poetry of Gibran’s Jesus, the Son of Man in a thunderous setting for chorus, organ, orchestra, and percussion.
This concert series will feature excerpts from this Middle Eastern-infused, modern day oratorio set to the poetry of Kahlil Gibran, consisting of reflections on the ministry of Christ. Rounding out the program are reflections on the power of women with Libby Larsen’s “I Just Lightning.” Peninsula Women’s Chorus will also present a brand new commission from Frank Ferko, “Alma Submerged,” in this program with something for everyone!
